My Story
Where Do I Begin?
I was born in Miami, Florida and lived there until I went to college. Upon graduation, I applied to work in Nassau, Bahamas. My maternal grandparents were from the Bahamas and I always told my grandmother that I wanted to live in Nassau. My degree was in sociology so I was accepted in the Department of Social Services. However, they were responsible for an all-age school and needed teachers so I started teaching and continued on that path. During that time I earned a Master's Degree in Education.
After a few years, I started seeing articles about balloons in the newspapers. They were about companies using imprinted balloons and singing balloon deliveries. During a summer vacation I went to New York with a friend and co-worker and looked up balloon companies. One of the wholesalers informed me about a balloon convention coming up and that was my introduction into the world of balloons. Back in Nassau, I worked with a few friends doing deliveries and continued to attend conventions and Classes when possible. For a few years I went back to Miami to help care for my mother. I continued researching balloons and joined a few special event organizations. During that time I really started working with balloons. Back in Nassau again I tried to do as much as I could on weekends and holidays. Now I want to work full time with balloons. Especially in the corporate and wedding sectors.
Balloon Accomplishments
During the years in Miami, I was able to more aggressively work with balloons after joining a few special event Organizations. We all worked together if needed or referred members for jobs. Some of my memorable clients include the United States Olympic Team sponsored by AT&T, Babies R Us, President William "Bill" Clinton's Office for his 50th birthday fund raiser, Carlton Cards in New Miami Target Store Grand Openings, Budweiser, and Florida political candidates Audrey Edmonson and Arthur Teele.
During balloon conventions I was able to help create the Hyatt logo and the Good Morning America logo for the ABC TV station. Finally, I participated as a crew member of the International Balloon Arts Convention 15 creating the Guinness World Record Balloon Mural. Now in the Bahamas, I want to create new and exciting memories.
